The SaSh Soup Kitchen

The Salaam Shalom Soup Kitchen is more than just a meal service. It's a beacon of unity, founded on the simple yet powerful belief that we can build stronger, more resilient communities by working together across perceived boundaries. Our joint Muslim/Jewish project serves over 140 hot meals every Wednesday night from 5.30-7.30pm at the Bridge Centre on Gregory Boulevard in Hyson Green, providing a warm and friendly environment for those in need.

Who is it for ?

At Sash, our aim is to make a positive difference in the lives of all those in need, regardless of their circumstances. For many years, we have provided food to destitute refugees and asylum seekers, those living in food poverty, those suffering from loneliness and isolation, and those experiencing issues with their mental health or substance misuse. We collaborate with local agencies such as Framework, Nottingham Refugee Forum, POW, Nottingham Arimethea Trust, and local GP practices to receive referrals, but we welcome anyone who needs our help whether they've been referred or have heard of us through word of mouth

When our guests arrive, we don't ask for any personal information and there is no charge for the food we provide. However, donations are always appreciated from those who can contribute. We offer a friendly environment, a hot meal, and companionship, often accompanied by musical entertainment and talks. Additionally, we give away any leftover food in takeaway boxes and offer groceries for people to take with them so they can be fed throughout the week.
